Creepy idea?

Twilight has definitely produced some of the most hardcore, die hard fans I have ever seen for a movie series. Beyond that of the Harry Potter and Star Wars. Nearly all of my friends from different walks of life and interests fell in love automatically. I am not an avid fan. -I really enjoyed the films and would enjoy watching them again, but I think that's as far as it goes. I have been told reading the books would totally change my mind, I just don't have the time in between magazines and comic books. I'm sure that says a lot more about me. Anyway, today I stumbled across a new Twilight related product for those who really cant get enough. The Manllow is half dummy, half pillow. You can get one and cuddle up with Edward and Jacob all night long. I find them rather creepy - they also remind me of those weird dolls you get to put in your car when you are scared to drive alone. Alas, if twilight floats your boat then eat your heart out. Available on Etsy as of now!

Today's Playlist....

Today I have been listening to 'After the fire'. I have a very addictive nature when it comes to music. I spend days listening to one album on repeat, then get sick of it and move on - I always come back to it though. Today has been one of those days, and the music of choice came from this 70's British band. This single released in 1983 ticks a lot of my boxes. The video ain't half bad either.

Pancake Mania

Shrove Tuesday is nearly upon us. I'm not a massive fan of traditional pancakes, I'm all about the thick American style with lashings of Maple Syrup. I saw these and have been waiting in trepidation ever since to finally get stuck in! I'm not a great cook, and rarely do I ever find myself hands deep in flour and baking trays - well I don't think I ever remember that happening. Though one of my New Years resolutions was to learn to be a better cook and its happening gradually. If you want to make these delicious looking bad boy pancakes then the recipe is easy and goes like this.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
To get the desired rainbow affect just add small amounts of food colouring to each little batch, and hey presto! Additive heaven!

Alice in Wonderland

I love looking at pictures for the new Alice in Wonderland movie - I'm a tres excited. I have only seen the original movie once - but I love the book and imagery. I pretty much love anything Tim Burton is involved in and I know he will do a sterling job on this. The movie is sure to make a big impact on fashion also, but for the mean time, feast your eyes on these make-up delights. Paul and Joe have produced an exquisite range based on the original Alice drawings and I cant wait to get my hands on them.
Urban Decay have also produced a palette that is going to be top of my birthday list. At the moment you can by it on the Sephora website, but I'm hoping it hits the UK shops soon.

I wish I was this talented...

M83 - Graveyard Girl - Live

Adam Sandler - Grown Ups

I have just been reading about the new Adam Sandler movie due this summer. I am dubious when it comes to Adam Sandler post Happy Gilmore days - examples of which are Click and Funny People - two hours of my life I will never get back. This new film 'Grown Ups', not only boasts a star studded line up including Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Maria Bello, Gary Busey and David Spade it also boasts men wearing t-shirts going down water slides! No seriously, it is meant to be the Sandler comeback of the century. Its about a group of guys that reunite years after college to celebrate the death of their coach and rekindle their friendship during a holiday with wives and kids in toe. Bar one, this is pretty much the cast of Saturday Night Live - so I am hoping for good things. Maybe I am pessimistic or just realistic, but I really hope this movie proves me wrong. I want to rekindle the funny Sandler I remember from my youth and realise that growing older doesn't mean growing up! Ha - like what I did there.

I am catching up on lots of movies at the moment which has been a pleasure, as I slipped away for a while and found comfort in Arrested Development and Friday Night Lights box sets. Back to the movies from Feb and more reviews to follow. Tata.

Alexander McQueen - A Fashion Legend

Today I heard the very sad news that Alexander McQueen has passed away aged just 40. He was one of Britain's most talented and influential designers, that season by season exceeded each previous collection with amazing couture designs. His Prints, tailoring and use of fabric, made McQueen's shows a bar above the rest- and one people fought for a seat in. His stories usually involved twists on gothic fairytales, sci-fi worlds and dark period of history where he found creativity. He made a mark on International fashion that many British designers struggle to make.

Lee McQueen, the son of a East End cab driver persisted with his love for Fashion Design from a young age. After going to St Martins he completed many interships as well as a stint on Saville Row. He worked tremendously hard to perfect his craft and learn as much as he could. His creative eye juxtaposed with logical mind made him question ideals and push boundaries. A fearless designer - the source for most admiration.

My favourite of all his shows was the AW/07 - inspired by the witches of Salem. After two seasons of some unfair criticism, this one blew the critics away. Watch it, it is seriously amazing.

I worked at McQueen for 9 months and had a great time. We worked hard and played hard and hearing this has brought back lots of good memories I had with the fellow McQueen kids.
My thoughts go out to Lee's family and Friends - he will be a British icon that will be surely missed.

Move over MTV

MTV has had its day in my house. Episodes are repeated too much and the amount of adverts is crazy. I end up streaming them and watching them in 20 minutes. So my new addiction for reality TV is being fed through E! Entertainment. I used to watch it every evening to catch Chelsea Lately - my favourite talk show host/comedian on the telebox at the moment. After Colbert stopped being shown on FX, I was very glad when this little lady indulged my midnight habit. Apart from Chelsea Handler, the reality TVs shows keep getting better. My favourite by far is Keeping up with the Kardashians. A mental family of 8 that spend their lives shopping, fighting, clubbing getting cheated on and pregnant. Who could want anymore? Also although Khloe has a hard rap in the states, she is super witty and by far the most entertaining.

I have also grown fonder of Guiliana and Bill. i stumbled across this by accident and now I'm hooked. Its not on all the time, but if you do see, watch it. Probably the cutest/disfunctional couple I have ever seen.

Finally, its the newest series on the channel - Meet the Lamas. Maybe its going to get better but at the moment its lame, I'm still not sure why the Father is famous and how they are constantly in the papers. Its pretty damn boring.

Sweet for Sanrio...

Like Marmite, people either love or hate Hello Kitty. I am a lover, I always have been. Its childish, adorable and kitsch - who couldn't love it. I admit sometimes there is kitty overkill and when stores like House of Fraser dedicate stands to it, I never purchase anything. Kitty items should be bought from Japanese shops, ebay and at Markets abroad. I have always been enamored to the iconic image itself and never really researched the history of the brand. After a quick spell on Wikipedia, I found out that indeed we have much in common. She lives in London, always wears a bow in her hair and has a twin sister (admittedly hers is called Mimmy which is super cute). Anyway I am going to indulge you with some of my new favourite Hello Kitty images.
Busted! In Japan the police officers now have to wear Hello Kitty armbands as punishment - really want this to be enforced on asbo's in the UK.
This tattoo juxtaposes her with a Mexican day of the Dead theme. Sweet as.
I'm not a massive fan on the one piece. Always have been bikinis all the way. This little red number may change my mind though. Perfect for festivals under a vintage denim skirt, I am definitely purchasing this for my holidays. Subtle.
Finally Sanrio crazy, its just a plastic version of Lady Gaga. If someone could make this dress in time for my birthday I would love them forever.

I am planning travels to japan later this year, and yesterday was forwarded a link to the Hello Kitty theme park out there. It is going to be at the top of my list. Seriously you have to check Puroland out!

Doppleganger Week

Ok, so Facebook introduced Doppleganger week. I'm not sure exactly what was the reason and who started it, but it was probably the same guy that was so bored he started a group 'can this sausage roll get more fans than Cheryl Cole' to before its in the thousands already. Anyway the denotation of this week was to get users all over the world to change their profile pics to their celebrity counterpart. I have to admit some have been really funny, I have seen about three using the guy from the mister muscle adverts. Mine was Lily. I don't look as much like her now the fringe has been replaced with bangs, but none the less its the one I get the most. Especially in this pic.Another two I get alot are these. Louise from Hollyoaks and Buttercup from Powerpuff girls. Both massive compliments!
